Remote Learning Offer

OUR REMOTE LEARNING OFFER

During these challenging times it is our aim to provide a learning offer which is engaging, supportive and relevant. The curriculum content shared with pupils and parents at home is also delivered to the pupils who are attending school, making our curriculum offer equitable. Please see below the key principles we are using to deliver our curriculum.

THE CURRICULUM

The lessons which the children in each year group complete at home are the same as those undertaken at school to ensure the same learning is covered. New work is set each day and includes the core subjects of Maths and English as well as a range of none-core subjects such as geography, design and technology and science. Pupils are encouraged to take physical exercise each day and resources are available to support this.

SHARING CONTENT

The work is shared through school email with the format of the work being tailored to the needs of specific year groups. All class teachers provide a clear daily overview of the work to be undertaken by their class. This overview also gives access to the resources required each day. These resources include video instruction developed by national providers such as White Rose Maths and the Oak Academy. These can be accessed at any time, paused when required and re-watched. Worksheets are shared which support these lessons as well as useful links to external websites. Alongside these resources the children have access to interactive online resources such as Times Tables Rock Stars. Live lessons will also be provided where possible and links sent out to children via email. Teachers will also mark work where possible using the school marking and feedback policy and return to the children electronically.

COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT

Email allows direct communication between home and school. Where the school identifies that specific pupils are not engaging with the virtual learning offer, these pupils are contacted directly and additional support is offered. The safeguarding team will also carry out ‘safe and well checks’ for some pupils.
