The moon landing and phases of the moon - 8 October 2020
In Class 4 this week, we have continued our theme Blast Off with great excitement. We have been learning about the phases of the moon and the meaning of the language to describe them, we created a simulation using a torch, ball and swivel chair! Then we learnt about the significance of the moon landing in terms of the space race between the USA and USSR. We used our art and research skills to create a piece of work describing the moon landing.
In English, we have been writing tweets and introductions for our competition winners in the style of Cosmic and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In maths, we have been learning to problem solve, estimate and add and subtract integers. We also had a times table games session to reinforce and practise our tables.
We’ve been listening to The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst and exploring the instruments used to create this music. In computing, we are learning about flowcharts and algorithms.
