Summer term 2022

Summer Term 2022

Welcome back to Class 4!  I hope you have had a lovely break. We will be launching ourselves into our new theme and learning, below is an outline of the upcoming summer term for your information.

Our Theme this term is Rock of Ages.   This is a history driven theme, learning about the history of Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. In science, we are continuing our learning about evolution and inheritance.   In English, we will be writing non-fiction pieces based around our theme, whilst also reading and linking writing to Wonder.  In design and technology, we will be learning about Automata Animals. In art, we will be looking at cave paintings.  Our R.E. we will be answering the questions, ‘What kind of King was Jesus?’. In computing, we will be learning about 3D modelling. In PE, we will be playing rounders.

With SATs only days away when we return, thank you again for your continued support. After school SATs club continues for the first two weeks of term, with Mr Hanson kindly helping out during these sessions too. Hopefully you have all received a letter about SATs week breakfast that week, if not please get in touch.

Home Learning will continue to be sent home at the beginning of term. Within this, there are many opportunities for your child to earn star merits. Learning should be brought into school on Friday. I will also be setting further maths and English tasks to compliment the class learning which will be handed out on a Friday to return the following Wednesday. If for any reason home learning cannot be done, please let me know, then your child can attend homework club on Friday lunchtimes. Spellings will continue to be sent home on Fridays, with the children being tested the following Friday. Reading – Children should be reading every night and writing it in their diaries, which are checked everyday.

Summer term is a busy term in Class 4, there are some exciting things coming up, that I hope will ensure the Y6 children – in particular – experience those end of primary school rites of passage. I will keep you informed throughout the term. Also, excitedly, PGL is in July. I will send further details soon.

As always, if you have any questions, please do get in touch,

Many thanks,

Mrs Landon
