Summer Term 2021

Welcome Back Class 3!!

We have an exciting term ahead of us, and for our year 4 children, it will be their last in class 3 (even though it may not seem that they've been in class that much due to the various lockdowns).

We are focusing on the Well Dressing competition for the first couple of weeks and will be making decorations for this big local event.

Then we will be starting our new theme 'Groovy Greeks'. We will be studying the Ancient Greek civilisation and how it has impacted our modern lives. This theme will also run through our English work with a study of Theseus and the Minotaur. Best of all, our theme unit will be kicked off with a visit from 'Historical Lives' who will bring lots of Ancient Greek armour and spears for the children to try on and investigate.

In Science we will be studying Sound and this is also the focus of our Computing sessions as we will be learning about digital music and audio editing.

PE is still on a Tuesday afternoon and children can spend the day in their correct PE kits and trainers. We will be doing Athletics with Mrs Tomkinson this half term which will link to the Ancient Greeks through the Olympic Games. Children will be improving their running, throwing and jumping skills.

Our RE sessions this half term will be based on this question: 'What kind of world did Jesus want?' We will look at the stories from the Gospels and how we can interpret them for our modern lives.

It promises to be a very busy, but very fun time in class. We are still being supported by Miss Gatfield, our student teacher, at the beginning of the term. Then we will welcome back Miss Morton, a student teacher who was with us in the Autumn term, to help deliver the lessons. We are also still supported by Mrs Tomkinson, Mrs Hawkins, Miss Richards, Mrs Kieran and Miss Wright at different points during the week.

As always, if there are any queries or questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
