Hello from Gethen and Matilda! - 20 September 2019
We started our year at Arete Outdoor Centre and we really wanted to talk about it! After a very long coach journey, we got into our groups and did different activities, including: rock climbing and weaseling. In the evening, we had tea (which was fish & chips) and then we went for a very windy night walk. The next day, we did gorge walking, beach exploration, scrambling, fires & lots more! In the evening, we did a blind folded night line and went to the famous gift shop! On our last day, we went rafting down the Menai Straights and canoeing. Then we went home to a warm welcome from families.
We went to Bishops Wood on Tuesday 17th September and did lots of fun activities including orienteering and pond dipping. It was a fun day and we all learnt something new! Please take a look at our photos underneath. 😊
In Literacy, we have been learning all about MAPOS which stands for: metaphor, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia and similes. We have been using these skills in our writing to describe the last tree. We are all feeling really proud of our handwriting this week. A huge well done to Sylvie, Zara, Darcy and Lexie whose work made it onto the Writing Wonderland board.
In science, we have been looking at bones and muscles with Sully (the skeleton) and Mike (the muscle man).
We are feeling really proud of our theme board and homework and Miss Farnell will put on a picture of it when we have done homework.
In other news, Manakin Skywalker (see picture below) appears to have learnt how to do the splits this week…
See you next week!
Matilda & Gethen ☺️👍
