Galaxies... 22 October 2020
What a busy final week of term and of our current theme Blast Off!
Today, we welcomed Joe Cairns, an astro-physicist (via Zoom) to talk to the children about Galaxies and telescopes. He kindly answered a number of interesting questions from the children. We then became astro physicists by classifying Galaxies on the website Galaxy Zoo.
During this week, we have been discussing Black History Month and reading about a number of significant black people. We then wrote a biography about Dr Katherine Johnson, who worked as a human computer for NASA.
In maths, we have been working on multiplying. We’ve been solving problems and doing reasoning style questions. In RE, we have been discussing What Jesus Would Do, and the message in the parable The Wise and Foolish Builder.
Our tennis skills, in particular our forehands and backhands have really improved and we have been enjoying playing matches.
We have completed our Peter Thorpe inspired art work this week, we've enjoyed building up our art skills this term with Mrs Tomkinson.
Our school councillors have been doing a great job selling poppies for Remembrance Day this year. The poppies will still be on sale after half term too.
Finally, we have been learning how to participate in a debate. The motion we are debating this week is ‘This house believes animals should travel to space.’
Hope you all have a super half term break!
