End of week 2... - 2 April 2020
As I sit and reflect on the second week of working from home, and figuring out how to teach remotely, I am blown away by the dedication of our families to the learning of our children. You all deserve a round of applause as you have juggled this new ‘normal’ and I have learnt so much from you.
This week I tried something different, by focussing on a book (The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch) and setting different learning activities each day. This was linked to Purple Mash and on top of the children reading each day, keeping a diary and doing TTRS, the children (and families) rose to the challenges.
There has been DT, amazing lighthouses and boats that float. Then the artwork…beautiful! The writing; interviews with Grace Darling, sequels to the story and delicious recipes for Mr Grinlings lunch have been fabulous AND keeping up your handwriting, spellings and reading, wow! Then, you inspired me with your animations, very impressive! Fraction learning has continued, it’s tricky but we’ve kept going.
Alongside this, families have been baking, cooking, crafting, doing Forest School, treasure hunting, star gazing, exercising, dancing and watching zoo keepers! I take my hat off to you all.
Please have a look at what Class 3 have been learning about this week, I’m sure you’ll be impressed!
The next two weeks are the Easter holidays. I won’t be setting work but there is still plenty to do to keep busy. Check our class page under key information, there are many activities there, plus TTRS and Purple Mash. Do keep in touch, I love seeing your photos! I wish you all a healthy and happy Easter and wish us all back together as soon as possible. Stay safe, wash your hands, speak soon, Mrs Landon
