Class 3 Summer Term 2019 - 2 May 2019
Welcome back to Class 3! I hope it was a lovely break and you were all able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had. In class 3, we have launched ourselves into our new theme and learning! Below is an outline of the upcoming summer term for your information.
Our Theme this term is Groovy Greeks! This is a history driven theme, looking at Ancient Greece, their lives, achievements and the influence they have on our lives today. In Science, we are learning about sound and electricity. We will be investigating the best materials to protect our ears to create ear defenders. In maths, we will be continuing to develop our understanding of the four operations, focussing on fractions, decimals, money, time and shape. In Literacy, we will be writing a myth, a letter to persuade and a report about Ancient Greece. In Design and Technology, we will be studying Greek pottery and masks. Our R.E. this term will be looking at why people pray, and what this looks like in different religions.
Home Learning will continue to be sent home on a Friday , to be returned the following Wednesday. If for any reason home learning cannot be done, please let me know.
Spellings will continue to be sent home on Fridays, with the children being tested the following Friday.
Reading – When you read with your child it would be helpful if you could jot down a little note in their reading record and sign it, thank you.
Forest School has returned to Wednesday afternoons and is being delivered by Mrs George. Please ensure your children have appropriate kit in school. As the temperature, hopefully, goes up, please ensure they have a labelled sun hat.
P.E. will be moving to Tuesdays, however, the children will need their kits in school all week as this may sometimes change. This term we will be doing kwik cricket, rounders and athletics.
If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to speak to me.
Many thanks,
Mrs Landon
