Blast Off! - 17 September 2020
The new term has picked up some pace this week, and with the new start time of 9am, having the extra time is certainly helpful.
Huge thank you to our PTA for the amazing playground markings, the children have loved playing on them this week.
We have been using the book Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers to help us settle back into school life. We have used it in our English, art and PSHE lessons. This week, we wrote poems inspired by our environment, used water colours to create paintings and these are now being added to the new display in our library.
In maths, our focus has been place value. Within this, we have been comparing, ordering and rounding numbers. We have been revisiting the four operations and reminding ourselves of formal written methods.
Our theme, Blast Off, really has blasted off! We’ve compared geocentric and heliocentric models of the solar system, created timelines about the history of space travel and compared data of the planets in the form of Top Trump cards.
